Altea Castell de l’Olla Fireworks
The Castell de l’Olla is held on the second Saturday in August every year. This year it will take place on Saturday 10th August 2019.
This magnificent firework display is in honour of San Lorenzo and this free pyrotechnic extravaganza has delighted audiences of over 50,000 every year since 1986!
The setting for the event is the pebbled 1.4 kilometre long beach on the outskirts of Altea. The beach becomes a hive of activities as spectators arrive laden with chairs, tables and a nights supply of food. Through out the evening the atmosphere builds until midnight, when the show begins! The fireworks are set off from floating platforms at around midnight and accompanied by a live orchestra. They are absolutely beautiful to watch as their colours and shapes reflect off the water. This is a masive display and one of the largest on the Costa Blanca.
Parking is a little difficult, a lot of people travel to get to this event, so get there early to find a space. There is police control and marshells directing you to car spaces with room to park. Be carefull parking on the main road or verges as the police are clamping down with tickets if they think your vehicle is a obstruction to other road users.
